Basic Skills Solutions is a small consultancy practice that specialises in working with leaders in the charity, not-for-profit and social enterprise sectors to strengthen and grow their organisations through a culture of purpose, stability and insight. We help charities build the clarity, confideance and tools they need to thrive. Our services focus on Strategy, Funding and Impact as the building blocks for long-term success. They are three parts to the same journey and together create a cycle of learning, sustainability and credibility.

I started Basic Skills Solutions because I believe every nonprofit organisation has the potential to thrive, but too often, the challenge is finding the time, confidence, and tools to do everything well. Having spent more than 20 years working in the sector, I’ve seen first-hand the passion and commitment that drives community organisations, and I know how important it is to have the right support at the right moment.
My own values are rooted in human rights. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside charities and nonprofits supporting women, refugees, young people, people experiencing homelessness, and communities building inclusive spaces. Each experience has reinforced my belief that real change happens when organisations are properly equipped to deliver the work they were set up to do. The environment we are all currently working in is overwhelming, and the demands on charities are relentless.. But, it is transformational when organisations have the space and confidence to step back, plan clearly, and invest in the tools they need to succeed. Sometimes, it just takes a different pair of eyes and an extra set of hands to make things a little easier. Basic Skills Solutions is not just a consultancy, it’s a partnership. We choose to work with causes that matter to us and with associates who share the values and priorities of our clients. Together, we aim to make sure every organisation we work with leaves stronger, clearer, and more confident about the future.
